Spots are still available in the Airdrie and District Tennis Association’s (ADTA) Community Team Tennis spring leagues and Spring Lesson Program. Both programs are held at the East Lake Park Tennis Courts.

The Under-10 league sees action from 5:30 to 7 p.m. every Tuesday from May 17 to June 21.

The Under-14 league goes from 5:30 to 8 p.m. every Wednesday from May 18 to June 22.

Space is limited to 24 players in each league.

Community Team Tennis is a program initiated by Tennis Canada that gets kids playing tennis matches – serving, rallying and scoring – the right away. Each session has a short practice component for skill development but the bulk of the time is spent playing singles and doubles matches in a team format. Every match won is a point for your team.

In addition to Community Team Tennis, the ADTA is offering a four-week spring lesson program in May and June.

The lessons are designed for beginning players or for those who want more emphasis on skill development.

Age divisions include Mighty Mites (eight and under), Topspinners (9-11), Aces (12-14) and Masters (15+ including adults).

Mighty Mites play from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturdays from June 2 to 25.

Topspinners play from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Sundays from June 2 to 26.

Aces play from 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturdays from May 31 to June 25.

Masters play from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursdays and from 11 a.m. to noon on Sundays from June 2 to 26.

All lessons and leagues are coached by ADTA president Chris Simnett, a former nationally-ranked junior player and Tennis Canada certified instructor.

The ADTA is hosting a Rogers Rookie Tour tournament on July 10 at East Lake Park. Rogers Rookie Tour events are fun, non-elimination tournaments that guarantee each player three matches and a bag full of prizes, including a T-shirt and water bottle.

For more information or to register for a program, visit www.airdrietennis.com or call Simnett at 403-968-1613.
