Airdrie’s AA Lightning teams had varying success in the South Central Alberta Hockey League (SCAHL) playoffs last weekend.

The Peewee AA team defeated the Bow Valley Timberwolves in two straight games and advanced to the North Conference final against the Okotoks Oilers. Game one of the best-of-three series was in Okotoks on March 8, after the City View went to press, with game two schedule for Airdrie’s Ron Ebbesen Arena on March 10 at 6:45 p.m. Game three, if necessary, will be in Okotoks on March 11.

The Midget AA Lightning has moved on to the second round after sweeping the Lacombe Rockets in two games. The team opened its hope of advancing to the conference finals against the Wheatland Chiefs on March 7, after press time. Game two is set for the Ron Ebbesen Arena at 7:15 p.m. on March 10, with game three, if necessary, set for March 11 in Strathmore.

The Bantam AA Lightning didn’t fare as well. The team dropped two straight games to the Wheatland Warriors in its second-round series and has been eliminated from the playoffs.
