The Highway 21 Feeders: Craig Dorin, David Reinhardt, Shane Broder and Art DeBruin (pictured) were the overall winners at the Airdrie Pro Rodeo’s Ranch Rodeo competition held at the grounds on July 2. Nine four-member teams competing in cattle penning, cattle doctoring, cattle sorting, cattle loading and branding. The Balzac Bandits, consisting of Don Evans, Chad Bridgeman, Hayden Miller and Ralph Pole, along with the Chalmers Cattle Co. team of Don Chalmers, John Esser, Lane Cook and Colt Duce tied for second place. The Highway 21 Feeders won the cattle doctoring and the cattle loading, while the Balzac Bandits were best in cattle penning. The Soderglen Ranches team of Jared Sherman, Natalie Benjamin, Emmit Spence, and Chelsie Cunningham took the top brading honours, while cattle sorting was won by the S6 Bar team of Alan Savage, Paul Cooper, Albert Boyd and Cam McClerie. The Ranch Hand Competition offers visitors a first hand look at the kind of work that really happens on a cattle ranch.
