The inaugural Mountain View Credit Union Charity Golf Classic raised $15,000 for Habitat for Humanity Mountain View, when it took place at the Coyote Creek Golf Resort near Sundre, July 7.

Nearly 100 golfers, as well as several major sponsors, helped raise the funds.

“This event was a great display of how business partnership with a not-for-profit organization can achieve a goal that will positively impact Central Alberta,” said Jim Stone, member of the board of directors for Habitat. “Habitat has such strong support in our communities and we appreciate the many ways which local businesses, like the credit union, make our projects possible.”

Bob Marshall, president and CEO of Mountain View Credit Union, announced that the funds raised at this year’s tournament will go towards building Habitat’s next home in Carstairs in 2012.

“Mountain View Credit Union has been proud to support Habitat for several years, and it’s great to see the positive difference that they can make to local individual families and to our communities overall,” he said. “A big thank you goes to all the sponsors, golfers and volunteers who helped make the 2011 Mountain View Credit Union Charity Golf Classic a success.”
