Rocky View County council approved $25,000 in funding to assist the Bow Valley Community Club in upgrading the Indus Curling Rink and lounge, June 28.

The money will be provided from the Bow North Recreation Board’s section of the Public Reserve.

“The Indus Curling Rink is a valuable recreational amenity for area residents,” said Reeve Rolly Ashdown. “We are pleased to provide this funding to ensure the ice conditions in the rink are optimal and the lounge is improved to create a more inviting environment for guests.”

The Bow Valley Community Club (BVCC), a non-profit group, operates the rink and lounge. Upgrades to the insulation and external doors of the rink are necessary in order to maintain proper ice conditions.

The club will also renovate the lounge area in an effort to increase membership and participation in the organization.

The upgrades will cost an estimated $56,453. The BVCC will provide $31, 453.
