The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation’s Prairie/NWT Region has announced its plans, and opened registration, for the Third Annual Batting Against Breast Cancer slo-pitch tournament.

The event, which will take place at Airdrie’s Chinook Winds Ballpark on Aug. 6, will host an official launch party at Absolute Baseball Academy in Calgary on June 4.

Batting cages and carnival-type activities, followed by a free movie showing, will highlight the evening, as attendees will commence registering their teams. Last year’s second edition, and first in Airdrie, raised more than $100,000 for breast cancer research.

There is also a registration grand prize of a Waterway Houseboat trip for up to 22 people on Shuswap Lake.

For more information or to register a team, visit www.cbcf.org/battingagainstbc or call Willow Ridley at 403-209-2233. The launch party starts at 5 p.m. on June 4.
