The Airdrie Regional Recreation Enhancement Society (ARRES) is set to launch its inaugural ‘Airdrie Athletes and Friends Raise the Rinks’ golf classic at Woodside Golf Course next week.

The golf classic, set for 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 25, will feature a number of local celebrities and athletes including Dana Tyrell of the Tampa Bay Lightning, Zach Boychuk of the Carolina Hurricanes, recent St. Louis Blues draft pick Ty Rattie, retired Olympic luger Eric Pothier and former Columbus Blue Jacket Darcy Campbell.

ARRES, whose ice user groups include, the Airdrie Minor Hockey Association, the Airdrie Skating Club and the Airdrie Ringette Association, is trying to raise money for Phase III of Genesis Place.

The goals of the golf classic is to improve public knowledge of ARRES, its efforts, and commitment to enhancing the community, as well as increasing awareness of the shortage of ice surfaces in Airdrie.

Plans for Phase III include the construction of two NHL-size arenas, with seating capacity of 250 people in each rink, multiple conference rooms and a generous foyer area for events.

The golf classic will feature a live auction beforehand, a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. and dinner to follow at 7 p.m.

Cost is $200 per player, which includes an $80 taxable donation receipt issued by ARRES. More information is available at www.rtrgolfclassic.com
