The Airdrie Phoenix Swim Club is bringing back its raffle RV contest this spring.

Airdrie residents will once again have the chance to win a free RV trailer this spring, thanks to the return of the Airdrie Phoenix Swim Club's second annual raffle contest and fundraiser.

According to club volunteer Corey McKeown, the Airdrie Phoenix Swim Club is partnering with Field of RV Dreams to offer the grand prize of a free recreational vehicle. This year's raffle winner will receive a 2021 Dutchmen Aspen trail bunkhouse trailer, valued at approximately $21,500.

“It’s good for all family types and is even winterized, so you can ski if you want to use it in the wintertime,” McKeown said. “You can view it at Field of RV Dreams – the trailer is parked in clear view of the highway.”

Last year's inaugural raffle generated more than $100,000 for the Phoenix swim club, according to McKeown, which meant the organization was able to weather a year filled with COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.

“All the funds we raise go to keeping our kids in the pool, competing across Alberta,” he said.

He added the 2021-22 season has been a positive one for the club's 38 local swimmers, who have been able to train and compete unperturbed since public health restrictions were lifted earlier this winter.

“We’ve even had a couple of our kids go to western finals this year, which is absolutely exciting. The funds we raised last year made that possible,” he said.

As of March 30, the raffle has already raised approximately $45,000. To buy a ticket, McKeown said interested participants can visit bit.ly/36BAJJ0

The deadline to purchase a ticket is May 14, which is also the date the draw will be held, at Field of RV Dreams.

“It raised $100,000, and a local Airdrie family won it last year, which was great,” he said. “But anyone in Alberta can buy a ticket. It is a licensed AGLC raffle.”
