Fighter Addy, The Baddy, Lescard recently won the Bronze Gloves at the Boxing Alberta provincial tournament in Chestermere.

A couple of Airdrie fighters were declared Bronze Gloves champions at the Boxing Alberta sanctioned event in Chestermere this past weekend.

Ayden Foster and Addy, The Baddy, Lescard of Humble Boxing Academy both won their finals bouts at the Chestermere Recreation Centre tournament held on Nov. 25 and Nov. 26. The event was hosted by Calgary’s Olympus Boxing Club.

“Ayden won his fight by second round stoppage against a fighter from Lethbridge, and won the Bronze Glove championship,” explained Humble Boxing Academy owner and competitive coach Lucas George. “And then Addy fought on Sunday against a really tough girl from Dynamite Boxing Club (in Calgary). (Addy) managed to give her a standing eight in the second round, and then ended up winning the fight by unanimous decision.”

Not only did the 16-year-old Lecard win the Bronze Gloves for the tournament in the 125 pound class, she was also chosen as “Best Female” fighter for the tournament.

Foster, 16, won his own pair of Bronze Gloves in the 135 pound weight class.

The Bronze Gloves Provincial tournament is for novice boxers who have a minimum of two bout experience.

“It’s an introductory tournament to see where your athletes are in relation to all the other athletes that are at the same level,” explained Lucas.

Boxing Alberta also sanctions Silver Gloves and Gold Gloves tournaments for more experienced amateur fighters.
