Airdrie Chrylser is holding a fundraiser that will see Olympians Cheryl Bernard and Lyndon Rush visit the dealership, April 7.

Raffles, door prizes, refreshments and the Easter bunny will be featured at the event, which raise money and awareness for both Special Olympics Airdrie and Community Links.

“The event is called Olympians for Charity,” said Brad Styner, dealer with Airdrie Chrysler. “We are having Olympians, special Olympians and future Olympians help support some local charities in a family oriented event.”

Guests are invited to come out and check out Team Bernard’s silver medal from the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, and Rush’s bronze medal from four-man bobsledding in Vancouver.

Airdrie Chrysler will be committing funds to the charities in a cheque presentation, as well as splitting all the proceeds from raffles and door prizes.

“We wanted to give a big handout to the wonderful charities in Airdrie,” said Styner. “Community Links touches so many in this community, we felt it was important to raise awareness for them. (Special Olympics) is always in need of volunteers and financial support as well.

“Our real goal is to create awareness. We want the community of Airdrie to be aware of the wonderful charities in this town.”

The event runs from 1:30 to 4 p.m. April 7. Presentations will be from 2:30 to 3 p.m. with Mayor Peter Brown. For more information, call Styner at 403-948-2600.
