Airdrie AA Lightning send 10 to All-Star games

The South Central Alberta Hockey League held its 12th annual All-Star Weekend in Red Deer last week, with a total of 10 Airdrie Lightning players suiting up in the three different games, Jan. 16.

The South Central Alberta Hockey League held its 12th annual All-Star Weekend in Red Deer last week, with a total of 10 Airdrie Lightning players suiting up in the three different games, Jan. 16.

Airdrie’s Clay Murray was named North MVP in the Bantam AA All-Star game, as the Bantam South edged the North 5-4. Forward Josh Hoath and defenceman Dean-Douglas Konshuck also represented Bantam AA Airdrie Lightning.

Todd Titley and Logan Smith, both forwards, as well as defenceman Colton Koch, were selected from the Midget AA Airdrie Lightning. Their North All-Star team beat the South squad 5-1.

In the Pee Wee AA All-Star game, where the South beat the North 7-1, Airdrie sent forward Jordan McConnell, defenceman Cory Kohut and goaltenders Kurtis Chapman and Brett Petek.

The All-Star weekend, held in Red Deer for the second consecutive year, also involved a Saturday evening banquet for 400 players, coaches and family members.
