Citizen tips led to the arrest of a 28-year-old man in connection with an alleged jewelry heist that took place in Cochrane at around 2:30 p.m., Dec. 17.
Members of Calgary Police Services arrested Catlin Cory Callahan on Jan. 10 after the public helped identify the Calgary man through an image taken from Goldtown Jewellers video surveillance camera.
He has been charged with theft over $5,000 and theft under $5,000 after allegedly stealing a yellow-gold diamond ring, valued at $16,000, and a yellow gold necklace, valued at $1,100.
Shelley Joanne Callahan, 51, of Airdrie, who was also allegedly involved in the theft, turned herself into Airdrie RCMP. She was transported to Cochrane RCMP and charged with the same charges.
Break and enter
Cochrane RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance in a Cochrane break and enter that took place Jan. 6.
A lone suspect smashed the glass in the front door of the NAPA Auto Parts at around 2 a.m. The suspect allegedly stole two generators, an air compressor, a heavy-duty vise, an angle grinder and a jack-stand combo before leaving in a late-model silver or white Hyundai Accent.
