Police say the man, a member of the British Army, was taking part in a four-day military training program. He was the first person to jump from the aircraft and his parachute deployed properly. However, while descending the man began to spin out of control. He received non-life threatening injuries when he hit the ground.

The man was taken to a Calgary hospital by ambulance and treated for his injuries.

The project, which will also include installation of traffic lights at the intersection of Yankee Valley and 24th Street, will begin June 24. The City is hoping to have the project completed by the end of October.

Message boards will be located in and around the construction zone, advising motorists of closures and subsequent updates. All signage and flag persons should be obeyed at all times.
