The RCMP is looking for shoplifters who attempted to rob the Chestermere Sobeyís liquor store twice in seven days.

On Dec. 13, video surveillance showed a man walk into the store, steal liquor and walk out. He returned with another person on Dec. 20, hoping to steal more booze.

Police said both men were in the store between 10 and 15 minutes. One man created a diversion by talking to employees while his accomplice put alcohol inside his jacket.

The first man left the store and the second attempted to leave shortly after.

Store staff confronted the man after spotting bottles sticking out of the his jacket. The man initially denied having alcohol on him, but quickly gave it back.

He left the store into a waiting white Dodge Neon with the other man. A third person, possibly female, was also inside the car.

The man who tried to steal the liquor is described as Caucasian, in his late 30s, brown facial hair and wearing a dark-coloured toque. He was also wearing a grey and tan jacket with a white stripe and a yellow hoodie underneath.

The man who distracted store clerks is described as Caucasian, in his late 30s, 5í10î, with blond hair and scruffy facial hair. He was wearing black work jean overalls.

A slew of broken car windows, slashed tires and vehicle body damage has Cochrane residents on alert and police hunting for unknown suspects. On Jan. 7, multiple vehicles were smashed up on Quigley Drive and in the West Terrance areas. Police believe the incidents took place in the early morning hours. Damage is estimated in the thousands of dollars and no arrests have been made.
