The Town of Cochrane celebrated the installation of a new welcome sign marking entry into the community, June 12.
The sign is located on the north side of Highway 1A across from GlenEagles Drive at the town’s east end. Additional welcome and directional signs will be installed over the next two weeks.
“We’re thrilled to see the installation of the new signs,” said Cochrane Mayor Truper McBride.
The $400,000 sign project was approved in 2011 and led by the Town of Cochrane Roads and Communications department with the assistance of a community stakeholder group comprised of representatives of Town council and staff, the Cochrane Tourism Association, the Cochrane and Area Chamber of Commerce, Sustainable Partners Uniting Resources and the Downtown Cochrane Business Community.
“(The signs are) a great addition to the community and will truly add to our western heritage atmosphere,” said McBride.
