Motorcyclists from throughout the area will be revving their engines in Airdrie on Saturday to honour veterans.
The Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans (ANAVETS) of Canada and the Veterans Association Food Bank sponsored “Field of Honour” rally will marshal at 10:00 a.m. at the Town and Country Centre parking lot at 275 Jensen Drive NE.
From there, the motorcyclists will ride along a designated parade route until arriving at 800 Veterans Blvd. where this year's cross-laying ceremony will take place.
Crosses will be erected in a grassy median along Veterans Boulevard. Each cross honouring someone with ties to Airdrie who served in the Canadian military.
The event also helps bring attention to the needs of veterans who might be financially struggling in these difficult times through Veterans Food Bank connection.
Anyone with a motorcycle in the Airdrie region who wishes to take part in the parade is invited to gather at the designated Town and Country Centre muster point.
The special cross-laying ceremony will take place at 11 a.m.
The Field of Honour motorcycle procession and cross-laying ceremony has been held annually in Airdrie since 2011, as a lead-up to Remembrance Day.
