A dog that ran away from its owners after being involved in a single vehicle rollover on Highway 21 shortly before Christmas has returned home.
Sergeant Glen Demmon of the Beiseker RCMP detachment said the border collie named Angie had been spotted in the area following the incident but no one was able to catch her.
“(The owners) had been looking for quite a while and they put a kennel out with some personal stuff warmed up there and she was found curled up inside the kennel,” Demmon said.
Angie had been missing for approximately three weeks and Demmon said when she was found she was “a little bit thinner but otherwise in good shape”.
Officers responded to the rollover at Knee Hill Creek near the intersection of Highway 575 shortly after noon on Dec. 23. The two occupants of the vehicle were transported to hospital but Angie took off. She was recently found not far from the scene of the rollover, Demmon said.
Driver in hospital
Traffic on Range Road 11 north of Highway 566 was tied up for a number of hours Jan. 20 as RCMP dealt with a single-vehicle rollover involving a gravel truck, according to Airdrie RCMP Constable Jennifer Weedmark.
The driver of the gravel truck was transported to Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary via ground ambulance in stable, non life-threatening condition, according to EMS spokesperson Adam Loria.
“One adult male was trapped for some time in the vehicle just due to the significant damage, however our paramedic crews from Airdrie were able to communicate with him and assess him somewhat while he was in the vehicle awaiting extrication,” Loria said.
He said the man was suffering from a number of traumatic and serious injuries and EMS initially requested the assistance of STARS Air Ambulance but ultimately determined he could be transported by ground ambulance.
Motorists were diverted onto Highway 566 to the south and Township Road 264 to the north as emergency crews investigated and cleared the collision scene. The cause of the collision remains under investigation, according to Weedmark.
