The Balzac Community Hall Association is looking for new members and a fresh perceptive for the future of the hall.

The Balzac hall – located in the heart of Balzac on the corner of Highway 2 and Highway 567 – has been a community staple for 85 years, said President of the Hall association Wilf Stark.

“We need some fresh blood,” Stark said.

“We’ve had the same two or three bodies move from the same positions.”

While the association and the community aren’t in danger of losing the hall, the committee would like to see new ideas and visions for the future.

“It does take some commitment and enthusiasm but the hall continues to bring people to the community,” he said.

Stark explained that the time commitment is just one meeting on the third Wednesday of every month, one community dance – which this year is April 26 – and the Christmas Bazaar, which is hosted in early November every year.

“The Hall has served as an active gathering place within Balzac and the surrounding areas, supporting dances, wedding, showers, anniversaries, community meetings, service groups and elections,” Stark said.

“Today, it continues to be used 300 days of the year.”

Stark explained that people do not have to be a resident of Balzac to be a member, anyone that resides in Rocky View County is eligible to a member of the association.

The association is asking anyone with an interest to come to the Balzac Hall on March 19 at 7:30 p.m. to discuss their vision for the hall.
