Airdrie RCMP stated in a press release that on Oct. 9 at 7:38 p.m., Airdrie Rural RCMP officers responded to the Rocky View County mall to investigate a reported assault. According to the release, a young Airdrie resident told officers he had been assaulted by an unknown male.

"The youth reported he was confronted by a male in the movie theatre parking lot and challenged to fight," RCMP stated. "The youth declined and entered the mall when the male attacked him."

The victim attended Airdrie urgent care as a precaution.
