Dear editor,

Crossfield Town council met for its first regular meeting, Nov. 2. We were all looking forward to see how we could make Crossfield a better place to work, live and play. We did accomplish an item in each of those areas.

A sore spot for many residents we found while we were all campaigning was the lack of access to the recycle bins. We have had a problem in the past of inappropriate items such as household garbage, oil, dead animals and other items being put in or around the bins when they were placed in the parking lot of the community centre. That is why they were moved to the dump at the south end of town. We hope by answering the request from the community that we have made the right decision to move them back.

If we all co-operate and use the recycle bins responsibly, it will be a great decision.

We have also ordered a new entrance sign welcoming people to the town. For the businesses in the south industrial part of town the speed limit will be raised from 30 to 50 km/h. The new speed limit will affect all industrial areas of town south of and including Laut Avenue.

For the kids, we have lowered the swings at Crockett Park so that the smaller ones can get on the swings without help. We, at council will try to accommodate all residents and answer all of their concerns.

Garry Richardson, Crossfield Town Councillor
