When I heard Arnold Schwarzenegger was coming to Calgary, I got tickets to go to hear him speak. I am a big fan, having read two of his autobiographies and thumbed my way through hundreds of pages of magazine articles over the years.
Arnold told the story of his life from his early bodybuilding days to his movie career and then into his holding of the office of Governor of California. He neatly wove his five steps of success into the speech. Some of these steps were: setting yourself a vision for your goals, don’t be afraid to fail and working hard.
“If you are afraid of failing and don’t try, you are girly-men,” said Arnold. He continued to say he believes in hard work and that anyone who is looking for a shortcut is fooling themselves.
It was a great afternoon and I am glad my wife encouraged me to go. I would encourage anyone that hears of someone coming to Airdrie or close by that they have an interest in, to go, enjoy and take it in for what it is worth.
