The high energy, acappella group HOJA will perform in Airdrie at the Town and Country Centre on Aug. 11.
Using only their voices, the trio performs songs from many different genres while imitating various instrument sounds.
“Performing in HOJA is such a rewarding experience - there’s nothing better than doing something you love to do and touching people’s lives every day that you do it,” said HOJA member Chris Martin.
“I look out into the audience and think to myself ‘What can I do to put a smile on these faces and get these people moving and shaking for the next hour?’ That’s my job in a nutshell.”
The other members of the band include Kirk DeHaven and Jessie Froese of Calgary. Martin has recently made Cochrane his home.
The show features great harmonies, fun choreography and HOJA’s unique sense of humor presented in an entertaining style that audiences of all ages enjoy.
Some repertoire highlights include the classics Lean on Me, Pretty Woman, 500 Miles, Stayin’ Alive, Sweet Dreams, and The Lion Sleeps Tonight, as well as a humorous demonstration of the evolution of acappella including Gregorian chant, barbershop, and doo-wop.
