“It is very exciting. When I think of all the Brier’s I’ve been to and the 50/50s I’ve bought, it was a big surprise to me this morning.”

Congratulations to the winner of Wednesday’s jackpot, Dorothy Marquis of Jasper. Following years of attending the Brier and frequently entering the 50/50 draws, Dorothy is walking away with $7,600 in her pocket.

“I just logged in this morning to see the winning ticket and there it was,” said Dorothy. “It feels very good.”

Dorothy and her husband moved to Jasper in 1984 from Rainy River, Ontario.  Rainy River is also home to an active curling community and is where Dorothy began curling there in 1971. After the Canadian National Railway transferred her husband to Jasper, she became part of the curling community in her new hometown. As a member of the Jasper Curling Club, Dorothy skips a team in the ladies, mixed and corporate leagues.

While there are no immediate plans for her winnings, Dorothy says, “I certainly will have fun spending it.”

Thank you Dorothy and to the thousands of fans for helping raise funds to support the growth, access, development, and leadership of curling right here in Alberta.

Championship weekend for the 2021 Scotties Tournament of Hearts is just around the corner, and that means a few more chances to win in Curling Alberta’s 50/50, presented by Boston Pizza. Tickets can be purchased from 9:00 AM – 10:00 PM MST and can be purchased here. (LL#570519)
