No Airdrie-based facilities are currently on the Alberta government's list of COVID-19 outbreaks.

Across the province, according to alberta.ca 505 new cases were identified as of March 17, with a test positivity rate of 4.8 per cent. The new numbers mean there were 5,084 active cases in Alberta as of March 17, and there have been a total of 140,127 cases since the pandemic began.

“As we’re looking at all of our options, it’s critical that we learn from other jurisdictions and that we watch what has happened in other parts of the world as variant cases have risen sharply and we need to factor that in as one of many considerations as decisions are made,” said Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta's chief medical officer of health.

Outside of Airdrie, cases have either climbed or remained steady compared to earlier this week. Rocky View County (RVC) reported 45 active cases as of March 17, up 15 since March 15. Bow Valley High School is experiencing an outbreak of the virus with more than 10 cases confirmed. Elizabeth Barrett Elementary School, Fireside School and Cochrane High School are also listed on the government's COVID-19 school status map, with two to four active cases.
