Airdrie down to 102 active cases of COVID-19

As restrictions remain in place, Airdrie's active cases have dropped to 102.

Airdrie's active cases of COVID-19 have dropped to 102, according to provincial government data.

The Alberta government's COVID-19 regional status map shows Airdrie currently has a case rate of 145 per 100,000 population. As of Jan. 21, Airdrie reported a total of 1,716 cases of the virus. Of those, 1,594 people have recovered and 16 deaths have been reported.

George McDougall High School remains on the provincial COVID-19 school status map after an outbreak there was reported on Jan. 15. On the east side of the city, Bert Church High School has been added to the list under "alert" status, meaning two to four cases have been reported there since in-class learning resumed. St. Veronica School has also been listed under "alert" status.

Outside of the city, Rocky View County (RVC) is reporting 67 active cases. On the east side of the county, Chestermere is now at 51 active cases. Out west, Cochrane is down to 26 active cases. No schools in any of these three municipalities have been listed on the COVID-19 school status map.

Provincially, there were a total of 120,793 cases of COVID-19 in Alberta as of Jan. 23. Of the total cases, 9,511 are considered active, 109,733 people have recovered, 652 patients are in hospital and 111 Albertans are in intensive care units. In total, 1,549 deaths have been reported in the province due to the virus.

On Jan. 23, 463 new cases were reported in Alberta. Additionally, as of the same date, 99,047 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Alberta. This equates to 2,239.9 doses per 100,000 population.
