Wesdome Gold Mines has had over 30 years of continuous gold mining operations in Canada.  The Company is 100% Canadian focused with a pipeline of projects in various stages of development.  The Company’s strategy is to build Canada’s next intermediate gold producer, producing 200,000+ ounces from two mines in Ontario and Quebec.  The Eagle River Complex in Wawa, Ontario is currently producing gold at the Eagle River Underground Mine.  Wesdome started production at the Kiena Complex in Val d’Or, Quebec in December 2022. The Company trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol “WDO”.


SUMMARY

This over-time eligible position reports to and works under the direction and management of the Site Lead for Environment and will coordinate closely with other teams on and off-site including staff and leadership at the Eagle River mine. The Water Technician requires an individual who is motivated and innovative, with the ability to anticipate needs and work independently with minimal supervision. The Water Technician is an integral part of the water supply and discharge for the Eagle River Mining Complex. operates and monitors the industrial and domestic water treatment systems at the Eagle River Complex. The treatment systems on the complex include Reverse Osmosis, Floc/Coagulant Precipitation and Waterloo Biofilter systems. The technician will monitor water quantity and quality levels on the site and provide regular reporting of this information back to environmental and other departments. The Water Technician is employed as part of the Environment Department. This office/field role will require time spent on site as well as remote with occasional travels to other sites and locations.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Accountabilities and duties will include but not limited to the following:

  • Support for adherence to policies, standards, and permit conditions.
  • Operate and monitor domestic and industrial water treatment systems.
  • Use various chemical analysis systems to proactively manage water quality on site.
  • Ensure optimum performance of water treatment systems.
  • Participate in strategic sessions to continuously improve water quality and management on site.
  • Maintain and control water treatment chemical and consumables inventories.
  • Innovative strategies to achieve success of mining operations in the context of sustainable environmental stewardship and water management.
  • Troubleshoot problems by performing maintenance tasks and coordinating with other support teams such as electrical or mechanical.
  • Complete and maintain process reports and daily logs.
  • Support in developing procedures and priorities through identified risk management.
  • Actively participate in site, team and personal safety.
  • Provide and work with Quality Assurance and control of field collection and data. 


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with water management, preferably in a mining context.
  • Chemistry background preferred through a combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in English, both oral and written
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to achieve deadlines, act decisively, be resilient and resourceful.
  • Self-motivated, team player with good interpersonal skills.
  • Current driver’s license
  • Proactive advisory skills and ability to operate strategically and tactically.

Location and Logistics of the Role

  • This position is located at our Eagle River Mine location near Wawa, ON;
  • In this role, you will work a 14 days in / 14 days out schedule and therefore you will have meals and accommodations provided at our camp;
