A trail has begun for the man accused of robbing a homeowner in Foothills County in 2019.

A trial began this week for a man charged in a 2019 home invasion robbery outside of Okotoks.

Armin Babic appeared at Court of King's Bench in Calgary on March 6 to begin trial, on seven charges, including robbery with a firearm and impersonating a police officer, following a home invasion in Foothills County on Nov. 19, 2019.

On that date, Okotoks RCMP responded to a 911 call from homeowners who said a lone male entered the home with a firearm and robbed them.

The suspect was attempting to present himself as a peace officer, and discharged one round from the firearm, RCMP said.

Items stolen during the robbery were discovered in a vehicle that was driven by the suspect, including a large sum of U.S. currency, jewellery and a firearm.

Other items allegedly related to the offence, including a firearm and a police-style ballistic vest, were also seized.
