In a scam alert on its website, Calgary Parking said it does not send text messages to collect payment for parking tickets.

Text messages that ask for payment for unpaid parking tickets are a scam.

Calgary Parking said it's aware of text messages requesting payment for unpaid parking tickets that claim to be sent from the organization.

The agency said it does not send texts for ticket notifications or payment requests.

"Please be advised that Calgary Parking and the City of Calgary do not use text messages for ticket notifications or payment requests," reads a notice on the Calgary Parking website.

Anyone who gets a suspicious text should not respond, and can report it to the Calgary Police Service non-emergency line at 403-266-1234.
