Cochrane RCMP call in Major Crimes Unit after autopsy concluded on body found in Bow Valley Provincial Park

The Cochrane RCMP have turned a case involving human remains found Bow Valley Provincial Park over to the RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit.

On Nov. 3, 2023, Cochrane RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle which was located at Widowmaker Trail Head, located in Bow Valley Provincial Park. Upon arrival, officers discovered human remains inside the vehicle.

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken carriage of this investigation.

An autopsy was conducted on Nov. 6. The results of this autopsy will not be released pending notification of Next of Kin.

RCMP are seeking assistance in this investigation. The vehicle which contained the deceased is the same truck in the included picture. It is a 1998 White Dodge Ram, bearing Alberta licence plate CNF1057. This truck was stolen from the Dalhousie neighbourhood in Northwest Calgary in the early morning hours of Oct. 24, 2023.
