Red Deer Rebels triumph in OT, snap Edmonton Oil Kings' three-game win streak

RED DEER, Alta. — Ben King scored with 34 seconds remaining in overtime – his second goal of the game – to lead the Red Deer Rebels past the Edmonton Oil Kings 4-3 in the Western Hockey League Saturday.

King also had an assist on Red Deer's 3-1 goal for a three-point game. Christoffer Sedoff and Arshdeep Bains had two assists each for the Rebels (7-4-1).

Jalen Luypen scored twice in the third period to tie the game for Edmonton (7-2-2), which got 40 saves from Sebastian Cossa.

The Oil Kings saw their three-game win streak come to an end. Edmonton has only lost twice in the past six game (4-1-1) – both were against the Rebels.

Red Deer outshot Edmonton 44-27 and went 3 for 9 on the power play.

KELOWNA, B.C. – Pavel Novak scored a hat trick and Jake Poole netted the overtime winner as Kelowna (3-3-0) defeated last-place Victoria (1-10-1).

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. – Matthew Seminoff scored his fourth of the season and added two helpers as Kamloops (8-1-0) downed Prince George (5-4-0) for their fourth straight victory.

BRANDON, Man. – Keaton Sorensen's two first-period goals were the difference for Prince Albert (3-7-1) in defeating Brandon (5-7-0).

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. – The Winnipeg Ice (12-1-0) showed they are still the league's most dominant team despite a recent defeat, crushing Lethbridge (5-4-0) thanks to goals from seven different players.

REGINA – Two goals by Connor Bedard and Logan Nijhoff gave the Pats (4-7-0) their second consecutive victory. Swift Current (2-7-2) is winless in its last nine since opening the season with back-to-back wins.

MEDICINE HAT, Alta. – Kyle Crnkovic scored his ninth and 10th goals of the season, including the second-period game-winner, to lead Saskatoon (8-2-1) past Medicine Hat (4-5-2).

KENNEWICK, Wash.  – Gabe Ludwig netted the OT winner for Seattle (7-2-1) over Tri-City (2-5-1) for its fifth win in a row.

SPOKANE, Wash. – Everett (7-0-1) remain undefeated in regulation time this season following a win over Spokane (3-6-1).
