The 2023 Best of Airdrie Readers' Choice Awards celebrate the best of the best in Airdrie's business community.

The Best of Airdrie Readers’ Choice Awards celebrates the city's finest family-run businesses and fundraising events, but what makes the contest truly special is the winners' emphasis on community involvement and their ability to inspire others to do the same.

Airdrie may be growing every year, but its small-town charm is still evident in the hospitality and generosity of its small business owners, and this year's winners are prime examples of that spirit.

Kelsey Brockway, the winner of the Best Citizen award, is a shining example of the positive impact one person can make on her community. Her dedication to volunteering and helping those in need has inspired her children to follow her steps. Despite achieving great success as a business owner with her husband Scott at Brockway's Automotive, she finds the greatest reward is helping those in need. Her selflessness serves as a reminder to us all that success is not only measured by personal accomplishments, but also by the positive impact we have on others.

Community Links took home the gold award this year as the Best Local Cause. With over four decades of experience helping others, the social services agency has made an indelible mark on Airdrie and north Rocky View County. Executive Director Brenda Hume's passion and organization were evident during a tour of Community Links’ Main Street facility, and it's no wonder they've built such a solid reputation for making a difference by recruiting more than 150 active volunteers.

What's remarkable about this year’s winners is that they didn't just build successful businesses or organizations, but they've also inspired others to come out and help. The Best of Airdrie Readers’ Choice Awards is a chance to recognize these individuals and shine a light on the good work they're doing city-wide.

As Airdrie continues to expand into one of Alberta’s biggest cities, it's heartening to see that the small-town feeling remains – and that the kindness and generosity of local entrepreneurs can still make a tremendous impact in the life of residents.
