Terri Stephens Celebrates 20 Years of Uniting Homeowners with their Ideal Properties

She credits her determination, persistence and support from family, friends, and clients as key factors in her 20 years of success.

During International Women’s Month, AirdrieTODAY is celebrating women that are making a difference in our local business and community landscapes. Meet Teri Stephens a Realtor with CIR Realty®.

Buying a home, upsizing, or downsizing are all milestone events. Realtor Terri Stephens is celebrating a milestone event of her own – 20 years in the business.

Stephens started her journey in real estate as an assistant to a top producer. This sparked her own interest in selling homes.

“With the business’ success and my passion growing for real estate, I jumped in with both feet and got my licence in 2003,” she says. What I love about the industry is meeting people, hearing their stories, and helping them find their ideal home.”

She credits her determination, persistence and support from family, friends, and clients as key factors in her 20 years of success.

What is challenging, however, is the industry itself. Stephens notes, “The economy makes real estate very cyclical for Realtors. We learn to make changes and adapt on the fly. It is an ever-changing business.”

Each challenge is an opportunity for growth. Stephens points out, “I am my own boss, I make the decisions and give as much as I get!”

What does being a woman in business mean to her?

“I keep my own power and make my own decisions. Having worked the 9-5 routine for years, I leaped into self-employment and never looked back. I've been a top producer over the many years; I am very proud of this. Additionally, winning several Best of Airdrie Reader’s Choice awards makes my heart sing.”

For other women looking to get into entrepreneurship or real estate, she has the following counsel.

“Fear can immobilize you and the unknown can stop you in your tracks. Take that leap of faith into a new job, entrepreneurship or helping in the community. Having a mentor to show you the ropes is a good thing. Don't pass up opportunities. Always be open to the possibilities. If you are interested in becoming a Realtor, find someone you can mentor with, or at least, provide experience and education on the many things that cannot be taught in school. Do this instead of reinventing the wheel or taking the long route – don't be stubborn. Just do it.”

When not helping clients find homes, you’ll find Stephens being very active in the community supporting charitable causes such as Tails to Tell, Alberta Guide Dog Services and Parkinson’s Association of Alberta.

A home is more than a big investment. Owning a home impacts a person on every level. It helps cover a basic need while being part of an investment portfolio, while also impacting emotional and mental wellness. The wrong home or type of mortgage will have a very negative overall effect; but the right home fills those needs and drives overall happiness. Happy homeowners are more productive at work and in the community and have better family and social relationships. Working with Teri Stephens means more than simply having an experienced realtor to find you a home. It means having someone on your side that understands the market and also the full impact home ownership will have on you and your family.

When you need someone with 20 years of experience, someone just as invested in the community as you are and someone that is passionate about their job, you need Teri Stephens Real Estate. Click here to learn more and follow her on Facebook, Twitter, TikTok and Instagram.
