It is no mistake that it’s named “Discovery.” The park is a destination for all ages to discover a new activity, make a new friend, or discover a new way to relax. “What is exciting about Discovery Park,” says Paul Gerla, co-owner of WestMark Holdings Ltd., is how there is something for everyone. A mother can arrive with her younger and older children and relax on a bench with a coffee and a good book. The younger ones can be active on the equipment while the older ones shoot hoops.” For the nature-minded, there is a large green space, plenty of trees, and miles of pathways that connect to other great destinations within the community park system.  Picturesque places such as the loop around Willow Pond with its lush shoreline, or the Central Pond Boardwalk nestled in the cattails offer space to exercise, to observe the changing colours of the leaves, or just relax watching the clouds go by. The pathways connect directly to Cooper’s Town Promenade, the area’s newest shopping centre, and two schools in the community. “We designed the community in such a way that most places could be reached via the park system,” says Gerla.Cooper's Crossing Paths “The park is also used for group yoga, bootcamps, and other healthy events that build you up mentally, physically and socially,” Gerla continues. “WestMark Holdings knows that these accessible, collaborative spaces that appeal to all generations promote healthy lifestyles and foster strong communities. Discovery Park is the perfect example of how this can be achieved.” The playground structure is large with slides, school-age and preschool climbers, swings, and a tunnel. Nearby trees offer shade. A picnic area, basketball court, fire pit, and toboggan hill are steps away. There’s no need to rush home for lunch as picnic tables on site are waiting for your next fun, family, al-fresco meal. Safe, multi-generational community spaces are becoming the norm in progressive cities, and Discovery Park is leading the way. Check it out today by visiting the playground and all its amenities at Coopers Drive and Coopers Crescent, SW in Airdrie.
