Giving Back is Davis Chevrolet’s Number One Priority

Davis Chevrolet does more than ensure you can get the quality vehicle you need. The company prioritizes being a leading community partner and an example to other businesses when it comes to giving back. In under a decade, Davis Chevrolet has donated more than $500,000 to community causes in Airdrie.

As the holiday season gets underway, Davis Chevrolet continues to inspire the community. This year they used Giving Tuesday (Nov 30) to kick off an exciting round of events.

On November 30th, Davis Chevrolet presented five foundational charities each with $2021 (to mark the year). The cheques were presented during a media event, local dignitaries were in attendance, and representatives from the charities spoke about their organizations during a Facebook live event. The mayor gave a speech and the representatives were treated to lunch. It was a very special day honouring the Boys and Girls Club of Airdrie, Airdrie and District Victims Assistance Society, North Rocky View Community Links, Airdrie Meals on Wheels and the Airdrie Food Bank. “Community is at the heart of everything we do,” explains Glenn Smaha, General Manager, as he details other ways the dealership is giving back this season. “This is also year 10 of us filling up a truck box for the food bank. Some years we have filled three boxes! We are open late, past the hours of the food bank, so this gives the general public a very convenient option for donation drop offs too.”

It’s also another year of sponsoring Airdrie’s Festival of Lights.

“We like to provide opportunities for our team to give back. One way we do this is to select a volunteer from our staff to transport Santa to the Festival of Lights.” Santa is grateful for the ride, and the volunteer’s kids, if they have any, get their own personal meet and greet with the jolly celebrity. The dealership also provides a financial contribution to the festival.

But that’s not all. This year Davis Chevrolet is thrilled to have adopted two seniors from the Bethany® long-term care centre. “Our staff are providing gift packages for a senior gentleman and a senior lady,” says Smaha. “The packages will have both essentials, and some nice-to-have special items.”

At Davis Chevrolet, giving back is part of the company’s DNA. Just some of the charities and non-profit organizations that have benefited from Davis Chevrolet’s generosity include (but are not limited to):

  • Airdrie Meals on Wheels Society: $9908 donated in 2020 and a meal donated with every vehicle purchased in 2021.
  • Airdrie Minor Hockey and other local sports teams: annual donations
  • Buick Test Drive Program: raised $17,000 for a local school
  • Canada Day parade: sponsor
  • New Genesis Place Twin Arenas: dressing room sponsorship, a $20,000 value
  • Big Hearted Mavericks: helped sponsor their 2021 golf classic to raise money for children's charities
  • Airdrie Chamber of Commerce: membership and board leadership

These are just a few ways the company gives back. “We want to lead by example to other businesses and show how important it is to support the town that support us,” Smaha concludes. To learn more about the deserving causes in Airdrie, visit https://www.davischev.com/community-giving/ today.
