UPDATE: Conrich shooting victim succumbs to injuries

The victim of a Jan. 8 shooting in Conrich has succumbed to her injuries, according to a Jan. 27 release from RCMP Major Crimes Unit.

Sheena Bhimji, 27, was shot at approximately 2:30 a.m. at a residence in Conrich's Meadow Ridge area, Southern Alberta District Media Relations Officer Cpl. Deanna Fontaine said in the original release on Jan. 8. Bhimji was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

An autopsy was conducted at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Calgary, according to Major Crimes, where the manner of death was determined to be a homicide.

"The family is asking for privacy as they grieve a beloved family member," the release stated.

The alleged shooter is still at large, RCMP said, and no further details of the suspect are available at this time.

Major Crimes contuinues to investigate this incident, according to the unit.

"What we're asking of the public is if you have any information regarding this incident, to call Strathmore RCMP or your local police," Fontaine said. 

Fontaine added an update to media outlets will be provided when new information is available.

"We have limited details and are still in the preliminary stages of this investigation, and don't have additional information about the suspect or possible vehicle, at this time," she said in the Jan. 8 release.
