Rocky View County will soon have a page through Connect4Commerce and Pillar 9 to curate a directory of local businesses, services, and real estate.

Rocky View County's (RVC) economic development team has made a deal with Connect4Commerce, a start-up venture that creates localized marketplaces for businesses, services, real estate, and relevant listings.

“It’s going to be another tool in the toolbox for the economic development organization for Rocky View to promote business within [the county],” Connect4Commerce founder Bruce Tannas said. “It’s an opportunity to get out and see what’s available, and maybe source more of your stuff from Rocky View.”

RVC is the first partner to join with Connect 4Commerce, and because of this collaboration, Tannas said the County will have its own landing page.

The page will include listings of businesses that offer relevant services to other businesses, as well as listings posted by community members, and a local real estate feed made possible through a joint effort between Connect4Commerce and Pillar 9.

“Rocky View County is proud to be part of Connect4Commerce’s commercial real estate feed,” said David Kalinchuk, the economic development manager for RVC, via a written statement. “The time and attention that Bruce Tannas and his team have put into the Connect4Commerce’s commercial real estate feed brings opportunity to the grassroots and supports our local businesses, developers, and commercial real estate brokers.”

All of the available features were resources necessary to small business development and support that Tannas identified as missing.

“There seemed to be a gap in the marketplace for a site that could connect entrepreneurs to all the things they need to do to [make] their business better,” said Tannas, who previously worked for Community Futures.

According to Tannas, patrons will be able to purchase a strip of land, rent a piece of machinery, or browse local properties, all from the company’s website.

The goal is to encourage businesses in the County to do business with each other – rather than outsourcing their needs to other regions.

It can also be used as a way to research businesses in the community, Tannas said, and will be valuable for individuals looking to move to or do business in the area.

“Connect4Commerce’s commercial real estate feed is and innovative and tech-savvy tool that brings real estate transactions to an actionable level,” Kalinchuk said in his statement. “As businesses throughout metropolitan Calgary and the region come to the realization that their taxes are going up, they quickly realize that the best place to relocate and pay lower taxes [is] in Rocky View County.”
