'Suspicious' motorist sought in Stoney Nakoda

Cochrane RCMP is investigating three suspicious incidents in the Stoney Nakoda First Nation.

In the last week, according to Cst. Jennifer Brewer, the detachment received reports of a motorist allegedly approaching young pedestrians walking near the Ozada Flats and Chiniki Lake Road.

The make and model of the suspect vehicle are unknown, she added, and there is no description of the motorist.

“I know the investigators are working with the families involved to try and narrow down descriptors, so we can get those out there,” Brewer said. “But it is still very much an active investigation.”

An in-house sketch artist will be working with the families as well, she said, which will help Cochrane RCMP determine if the same motorist was involved in all three incidents.

“We did want to make sure this information got out to the public…so the public is aware there have been incidents and we are investigating,” Brewer said. “[We want to] remind them to be safe and vigilant, and make sure they’re practicing safety when they’re walking about.”
