Second and third readings were granted June 11 to six borrowing bylaws that will fund special initiatives in Rocky View County (RVC), including the purchase of a new water tender, a plow truck and rehabilitation of several bridges.

“The borrowing bylaws are considered long-term, and RVC is required under the Municipal Government Act to advertise the bylaws for two consecutive weeks and wait for a period of 30 days to allow for any petition to be submitted prior to giving second and third reading,” said Barry Woods, manager of Financial Services. “The advertisement and waiting period are now complete.”

First reading for the bylaws was passed April 9, he added.

Reeve Greg Boehlke was the sole opposing vote on motions to adjust the preamble of the water tender bylaw and give it second reading. He previously opposed the bylaw at first reading, saying a similar truck could be contracted for the time being.

Motions to approve the remaining borrowing bylaws were carried unanimously.
