RVC survey gauges feedback on municipal classification

Rocky View County (RVC) has released a public engagement survey to assess resident feedback on the County's application to change its municipal classification to a specialized municipality.

"This change would allow us to provide more geographically targeted services to residents and businesses, both now and in the future," read a news release from RVC.

An online video presentation on what becoming a specialized municipality would mean for residents is available in place of in-person information sessions, which were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Residents may also contact the intergovernmental affairs team with any questions or other feedback they have, according to the release.

"We recognize that specialized municipality is a new concept for most residents and business owners, so we've provided more information, a video presentation, and [frequently asked questions] to explain what becoming a specialized municipality would mean for you and the County," the release stated.

With restrictions on gatherings in place, RVC is looking at online resources to keep residents engaged, according to the release.

"We have had a very good response so far. All feedback received will be presented to council for their consideration and a final decision later this spring on whether to proceed with an application to the Province," the release read.

While County Hall remains closed and the information sessions are cancelled, residents may still contact RVC's intergovernmental affairs team with any questions they may have about this initiative.

The survey, which runs until April 13, can be found here.
