Rocky View County to see cold temperatures and snow on Tuesday

Tuesday will bring icy temperatures and more snow to Rocky View County, according to AccuWeather.

Chestermere will see an accumulation of five to 10 centimetres (cm) of snow throughout the day, with the temperature topping out at -1 C (-7 C with the wind chill) before dropping to an overnight low of -14 C. The snow is expected to taper off into the evening, though AccuWeather suggests hypothermia will be "likely" without protective clothing.

Wind gusts of up to 24 kilometres per hour (km/h) are anticipated in the Irricana area, which will also see up to 10 cm of snow and a high of 0 C (-7 C with the wind chill). The evening will see the thermostat fall to a low of -15 C, with frostbite to exposed skin possible within 15 minutes.

Accumulation of between three to six centimetres of snow is predicted in Cochrane, along with a high of -2 C (-8 C with the wind chill) and strong winds gusting up to 26 km/h. Up to 15 cm more snow could fall overnight before skies clear, as the temperature falls to a low of -15 C (-16 C with the wind chill). 

Springbank could see up to 12 cm of snow before the end of the day, with a daytime high of -3 C (-10 C with the wind chill) and wind gusts reaching 28 km/h. Cloudy skies will persist into the evening as the thermostat dips to a low of -14 C (-16 C with the wind chill).
