Rocky View County (RVC) presented the 2022 Master Farm Family award to a farming dynasty on July 21 during the Rocky View County Agricultural Tour - an annual event featuring farms and ag-businesses in the southeast area of the County.
According to an RVC press release issued on July 25, the Cleveland family - comprised of Keith, Rhonda, and their sons Calder and Dawson - are fourth- and third-generation farmers who operate a 4,000-acre grain farm in the Dalemead area.
"My heartfelt thanks and congratulations to our 2022 Master Farm Family for all they have contributed to our community," said RVC councillor Greg Boehlke during the July 21 award presentation.
The farming operation - dubbed Cleveland Ventures - is a modern operation with a well-equipped line of machinery, according to the press release.
"The Clevelands are very involved in the agriculture community and have worked hard to stay progressive in their use of fertilizers, soil nutrients, and microorganisms," read the press release.
RVC added in addition to the family's agricultural contributions, they are connected, caring, and generous community members who have volunteered with many local associations, including the Parent Advisory Council, minor hockey, curling, and 4-H.
"Every year on Easter Sunday, the Cleveland family serves a meal at the Mustard Seed in Calgary," continued the press release.
The Master Farm Family award has been presented annually since 1989. According to RVC, the award recognizes the Rocky View farm families who show excellence in community involvement, team farm management, technical farm practices, and agricultural business and industry involvement.
