Powerful storms possible in Rocky View County

Rocky View County residents should be prepared for the possibility of strong thunderstorm activity on Thursday, according to AccuWeather.

Cochrane could see flooding downpours, large hail and damaging winds throughout the day, with as much as 15 millimetres (mm) of precipitation predicted. The high could get up to 16 C, dropping to 6 C overnight. Storms are expected to continue into the evening before clearing on Friday.

Similar storm activity is forecast in Langdon, where the temperature is anticipated to top out at 17 C. Partly cloudy skies will persist overnight, with a low of 10 C.

Irricana is also expected to receive a few powerful storms, with a 60 per cent chance of precipitation heading into Friday. The daytime high is 18 C, dipping down to 10 C through the evening.

More than 20 mm of rain could fall in Springbank today, along with storms threatening hail, wind and the potential for flooding. During the day, the temperature could get up to 16 C, with an overnight low of 7 C in the forecast. Thunderstorms are likely to clear after midnight.
