Rocky View County (RVC) council has taken the first step toward amending three off-site levy bylaws.

Byron Riemann, executive director of Operations Services, gave a preliminary presentation on proposed changes to the transportation, water and wastewater, and stormwater levies during a regular meeting March 10.

“This is a process that started in 2016,” Riemann said. “We began that process by having multiple open houses [and] multiple conversations with industry.”

Although, according to CAO Al Hoggan, public hearings for the bylaws are not a statutory requirement, council unanimously voted to schedule hearings, including a more fulsome report and debate for each bylaw, for May 12.

First reading for each of the three bylaws was granted unanimously. Deputy Reeve Al Schule was absent from the meeting.
