Rocky View County (RVC) council unanimously approved four subdivisions at its final meeting of the year on Dec. 10, 2019.

The first, according to planner Jessica Anderson, creates a 20.01-acre parcel with a 64.97-acre remainder southwest of Langdon, south of Township Road 232 and on the west side of Range Road 274A. She noted a redesignation associated with the application was approved in June 2019, at which time council heard the applicant intends to start a berry farm operation on the site.

Planner Oksana Newmen said the second application creates three approximately two-acre parcels with an equal remainder southeast of Airdrie in the Balzac East area, west of Range Road 293 and on the north side of Rainbow Boulevard. Area Coun. Daniel Henn moved to amend one condition of subdivision, allowing the owner the option of constructing a new approach to the site or constructing a shared approach to two of the lots. The amendment was supported unanimously before council approved the application.

The third, planner Xin Deng said, creates three new business lots ranging from 2.79 acres to 4.15 acres east of Highway 22 and on the north side of Highway 567, north of Cochrane Lake. Area Coun. Crystal Kissel initially moved to amend the application to include mutual approaches to the new parcels, but after input from the applicant – who indicated the original separate approaches were preferable – Kissel withdrew her motion and the original application was approved.

The final application, planner Johnson Kwan said, adjusts the boundaries between three primarily-commercial parcels in the Balzac East area, south of Highway 566 and on the east side of Range Road 291. With the boundary adjustment, the size of one lot increased from 25 acres to 32 acres, while the other two lots decreased in size to 20.67 acres and 4.66 acres.

Coun. Kevin Hanson was absent from the meeting.
