Railway Street in Crossfield will be hopping all afternoon on Sept. 12, as the Crossfield Chamber of Commerce gets set to host its annual Community Fest and Food Frenzy.
“It’s a great opportunity for businesses and individuals to come out and meet some of the (local) business community,” explained Crossfield Chamber president Murdoch Fleming. “Obviously we have the revitalized (Railway Street) for Crossfield, and even for businesses that don’t have a storefront there, the chamber sets up a table and they are able to send in brochures and other stuff. We can kind of advertise on their behalf.”
The promotional effort also includes booths for local non-profits, community groups, and sports organizations, Fleming confirmed.
Besides the celebration of Crossfield’s community of citizens as a whole, another major part of the Community Fest and Food Frenzy is celebrating the revitalized downtown area. The Town made significant improvements in 2020 and 2021, confirmed Fleming, to make the central part of the community a place to enjoy for all.
“Those improvements make it more user-friendly,” Fleming said. “You are able to walk downtown. It’s less commercialized and more revitalized.”
According to the Chamber of Commerce, some local restaurants will offer their own unique culinary delights alongside the savory fare brought in by special food trucks for the occasion, who will make up the “Food Frenzy” aspect of the event.
On top of the vibrant atmosphere of downtown Crossfield, the tasty food and the great opportunity to meet with the businesses and organizations that make up the heart of the community, live music will be provided by local band What’s The Plan.
The Crossfield Community Fest and Food Frenzy kicks off next Monday at 4 p.m. and goes until 8 p.m.
