Embracing inclusivity

We’re excited about the new Community Profiles developed by the City of Airdrie, which take a closer look at the changing demographics of our ever-expanding population.

We’re excited about the new Community Profiles developed by the City of Airdrie, which take a closer look at the changing demographics of our ever-expanding population. As one of Canada’s most rapidly-growing cities, Airdrie is becoming a more diverse community – and it’s important for the decision-makers within our city to take that into consideration when they plan for Airdrie’s future. This is particularly useful for major projects like the revitalization of downtown, which will have a significant impact on the communities that surround the boundary of Airdrie’s downtown core, or the development of new Community Area Structure Plans for areas along the city’s southern boundaries. But this information won’t be useful for council and planners alone. Once these informative fact books have been released to the wider community, businesses, service providers and non-profit organizations will be able to use them to cater more specifically to the people who call Airdrie home. Our activities and events can become more inclusive and diverse, and we can embrace new ways to introduce multi-culturalism into our welcoming community. It’s great to see our City thinking about things like this as Airdrie’s population increases, so we can all ensure that our community continues to embrace newcomers with appropriate opportunities, experiences and environments.
