Being an official during a charity hockey game is an interesting experience. I had the opportunity to skate as a linesman for the Crossfield Raise the Roof Flames Alumni Charity game this past weekend.

I read recently that Airdrie City council was approached and asked to include cats into the dog bylaw. Before I let you know how I feel about this, let it be known that I am a huge animal lover, of all dogs, cats, fish and pet rocks.

I’m here today to pitch you an idea for a new sitcom, a little show I like to call Whoops… You’re Promoted! The show follows the life and times of Ron Liepert, a gruff, no-nonsense politician who can’t help but make a hash of every job he undertakes.

Change, change, change. It was the mantra of Alison Redford’s ebullient campaign that was nearly flawless, capped off in her come-from-behind victory to become premier.

When great people die before their time, it helps remind us all our time is limited, and we mourn both the loss of a hero and the loss of what they still had to contribute. Entertainers and leaders are easiest to identify in this category.

Something you see everywhere is worry. You see it in the shopping mall, you see it at the airport. It hangs around the front steps at school or at the front doors at work. Worry is everywhere.

And it begins… you know what I’m talking about, the mouth marathon that lasts from Thanksgiving until all the Christmas leftovers are rotting in your fridge.

We started our September off with the Okotoks Pro Rodeo during Labour Day weekend, attending the Friday and Sunday performances.

She was a monster. Six feet tall, blood-red eyes with frightening, rectangular pupils, cloven hooves ready to slash us to pieces and long, razor-sharp horns itching to gore us.

I was wrong. I admit it. Several weeks ago, I predicted that as long as the campaign remained uneventful and turnout remained low, that Gary Mar would be Alberta’s next premier. Well, turnout remained ridiculously low.
