The Olympics mean different things to different people. For the athletes, it is a chance for glory that comes only once every four years and a chance to achieve the pinnacle of their sport.

It broke my heart when Race City closed at the end of the racing season last year. It broke thousands of other hearts too.

Well, here we are, it’s summer. How often we associate this time of the year with the idea of getting some rest, taking a break, a time to re-group so we can face the demands of life found in the rest of the year.

The countdown is on. As I type this, there are 17 days and two hours left until the 2012 Summer Games opening ceremonies in London.
