One of the realities I love about this community is its large number of young children. Children are the motor oil of the neighbourhood, itís been said: theyíll keep you running.

One of the things I love most about Canada is its diversity.

With courage equaled only by the sacrifices they have made, Canada’s veterans have served this country with distinction. Every Nov. 11, we honour them. To me, Remembrance is about much more than a solemn ceremony.

When she talks about learning to overcome lifeís hurdles, Iím all ears. Thatís because she knows what sheís talking about by virtue of her own experience, not someone elseís.

I don’t know about you... but for me life sometimes can seem like it is one crisis or concern after another. No sooner am I finished with one cause of stress, when another steps in to take its place.

As the father of a nurse, I have tremendous respect for the job our front line healthcare workers do on a daily basis.

The family here at Rocky View Publishing was devastated to hear about a school bus and a large work truck colliding on a highway north of Crossfield that sent nine people, including eight children, to hospital on Oct. 25. (See story on page 9).

I wasnít ready for this. Waking up Sunday morning to a fresh blanket of snow on the ground and icy winds swirling at my window was about as welcome as a punch to the kidney.

I have come to the realization that I may have been born about 10 years too late.
