Everyone has had “one of those days.” It’s usually a Monday and every way you turn there is something you don’t want to see. For me, that day was Monday, Jan. 20.

Finally, after nearly a year of waiting, my new home is built and my husband and I will be making the big move this weekend.

Contributor January is a resolution month. That’s the time when most people make their New Year resolutions, but it’s only the fortunate few who can keep them. Not a bad custom if you can keep it.

Sad news of the recent death of former Airdrie resident, Jessica Lynn Joy, in a motor vehicle accident on a Michigan highway comes as a shock.

When it was announced late last year that the CHL (Canadian Hockey League) would be holding its Top Prospects Game at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary on Jan. 15, I jumped at the chance to attend it.

We are welcoming the New Year – 2014 – and bidding goodbye to the old one. It is a time to take stock and reminisce about main events of 2013 and look ahead positively.

We are now less than a month away from the beginning to the 2014 Winter Olympics. I can’t wait. Like no other event, the Olympics brings Canadians together as we cheer for our national heroes.

It’s that time of the year when you and I hear the following question... “Have you made any New Year’s resolutions?” Most of us when we hear that question just smile, we may even laugh a bit because we know how resolutions usually go.
